2. Demonstrative Adjectives
Adjectives describe people and things.
Demonstrative adjectives in English are:
this/these
that/those
In English there are 2 groups of demonstrative adjectives.

Demonstrarive adjectives in Spanish are:
este/esta/estos/estas – this/these
ese/esa/esos/esas – that/those
aquel/aquella/aquellos/aquellas – that/those over there
You see that in Spanish there are 3 groups of demonstrative adjectives.

4. Demonstrative Adjectives
Note that the masculine singular forms are:
este
ese
aquel

5. Demonstrative Adjectives
The demonstraive adjectives in Spanish come before the noun they modify. The demostrative adjectives in Spanish have the same gender and number as the noun they describe.

6. Singular este vestido this dress esta blusa this blouse
ese suéter that sweater
esa sudadera that sweatshirt
aquel libro that book over there
aquella puerta that door over there

7. Plural estos vestidos these dresses estas blusas these blouses
esos suéteres those sweaters
esas sudaderas those sweatshirts

8. Demonstrative Adjectives
To ask a question use:
Esto / Eso / Aquello
¿Qué es esto? – What is this?
¿Qué es eso? – What is that?
¿Qué es aquello? – What is that over there?
Esto/Eso/Aquello are not a masculine singular form. They are used only to ask a question!

9. Demonstrative Adjectives
The adverbs aqui, allí, allá (here, there, over there) match up to the demonstrative adjectives.
este/esta/estos/estas – aquí
this/these - here
ese/esa/esos/esas - allí
that/those - there
aquel/aquella/aquellos/aquellas - allá
