Discovery Invention Diffusion People used to think girls weren’t athletic. As girls began to compete in sports, relationships between men and women changed. The creation of the steam engine changed our world. Japanese taking democracy from the U.S. Mexican food in Europe.

They tend to be labeled with negative stereotypes: Gang member! Cowboy! They tend to have social problems: Suicide Rates Alcoholism

7 Counterculture: A subculture that is deliberately and consciously opposed to certain central beliefs or attitudes of the dominant cultures Example: Amish (simple lifestyle vs advanced) Hippies (Freedom vs domination) Prison Gang (Blood in, Blood out)
