2 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e ADR Spectrum 2 Mobile Airfield Repair Equipment Set (MARES) Semi-Prepared Runway Operations (SPRO) Major Repair & AM-2 Sustainment Pavement Repair (SuPR) Rubber Removal Rapid Airfield Damage Assessment System(RADAS) Multiple UXO Removal System (MURS) Open the Air Base Establish/Expand the Air Base Operate/Robust the Air Base Recover the Air Base Airfield Damage Repair Operations Spectrum Major Repair & AM-2 ADR is more than just recovery after attack Supports all phases of the Force Module Construct Airfield Recovery is the main focus of the ADR acquisition effort ADR Recovery Components Damage/UXO Assessment / Minimum Airfield Operating Surface (MAOS) selection – commonly referred to as RADAS EOD Operations – commonly referred to as Multiple UXO Removal System (MURS) Airfield Crater Repair Mobile Aircraft Arresting Systems (MAAS) Emergency Airfield Lighting (EALS) Minimum Airfield Marking Water and Fuels Expeditionary Repair System (WaFERS)

3 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Why Modernize? Current ADR capabilities do not meet operational need Threat grew from a few large craters to many small craters & UXO’s Airfield ops evolved to require runway use by all types of aircraft Current recovery process is too slow – days vs. hours Expedient repair methods are limited Folded Fiberglass Matting (FFM) designed as a FOD cover for fighters for a short duration (~100 aircraft passes) AM-2 Matting (another FOD cover) can be used for taxiways/aprons but not suitable as a runway surface 3

4 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Airfield Damage Repair Now vs. Future Legacy ADRModernized ADR 12 x 50’ craters (4 hrs)120 x 8.5’ craters (8 hrs) Tens of UXOs/submunitionsThousands of UXOs/submunitions FFM/AM-2 FOD cover over crushed stone repair Rapid-set concrete/pelletized asphalt over flowable fill Airfield Damage Assessment Team (ADAT) (1.5-2+ hrs) Rapid Airfield Damage Assessment System (RADAS) (0.5 hrs) Traditional EOD (one man, one bomb) (1.5-2 hrs) Multiple UXO Removal System (MURS) (1 hr) Single A/C missionMultiple A/C mission Tens of passesThousands of passes Temporary repairSemi-permanent repair 4

5 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e MURS 5 RADAS Replace visual ADAT with sensors to automate damage assessment Reduced risk to personnel Reduced assessment time (30 min target vs. hours) Rapidly and safely identify, assess, and render safe up to 1000 UXOs (per event) Integration of small UAVs, unmanned ground systems, and directed energy systems (lasers) working in concert
