4 The –ing Form (3) – used as Adverbial Many people come to theme parks,looking for thrills and entertainment. But theme parks also try to make sure that visitors leave knowing more about their theme. Having enjoyed the rides at the Headland,visitors can take a shutter to the Lowland. What can you learn from the sentences above? (表目的) (表伴随状况) (表短暂动作)

5 1. V-ing 形式作状语时,其逻辑主语和句子的主语应该保持一 致。否则,就会出现 “ 悬垂分词 ” 。 Eg : Entering the house , the door closed with a bang. Waiting for a bus , a brick fell on my head. Climbing to the top of the hill , there is a beautiful view to see. 以上句子可改为: Entering the house , he closed the door with a bang. Waiting for a bus , I was hit by a brick on the head. Climbing to the top of the hill , we saw a beautiful view.

6 2.V-ing 形式有时态和语态的变化。现在分词的一般式( doing ) 表示的动作与句子的谓语动作所表示的动作同时发生;其被动 语态( being done )多表示一个被动的动作过程,这时句子的主 语是分词动作的承受者,二者是被动关系。 Eg :The secretary worked late into the night,preparing a long speech for the president. Being asked to give a performance,she couldn’t very well refuse. 现在分词的完成时( having done )表示的动作发生在句子谓语 动作之前,并已完成;其被动语态( having been done )意义相 当于过去分词,具有完成和被动的意义。 Eg : Having cried for a while,the little girl went to her mother. Having been told many times,he still couldn’t get it.

7 3.V-ing 形式在句中作状语时,可表示原因,时间,条件等意义, 若分词的逻辑主语是句子的主语,则可将分词及其短语扩展成 一个状语从句。 Eg: Hearing the news(=When they heard the news), they couldn’t help crying. Having finished the work(=After he had finished the work),he began to read. Being a tailor(=As he is a tailor),he knows what to do with the matrial. Not knowing(=Because he did not know)how to collect enough money for his plan,he went to Mr. Brain for help.
