NANC Action Items on Nationwide Number Portability (NNP) 703/24/2016 Two NNP issues were referred to the NOWG: Issue #1 – Potential impacts to the life of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) Issue #2 – Numbering Resource Utilization and Forecasting (NRUF) form impacts The NOWG requested input from the NANPA and ATIS INC based upon their subject matter expertise. The ATIS INC reviewed the NANPA’s input that had been provided to the NOWG and responded that they agreed with the NANPA’s assumptions and input related to both issues.

8. NANC Action Items on Nationwide Number Portability (NNP) 803/24/2016 The NOWG considered the feedback received from the NANPA and ATIS INC and concluded the following: Issue #1 – Potential Impacts to the life of the NANP: Assuming there are no changes to the assignment process for central office codes and thousands-blocks, the implementation of NNP is unlikely to have a significant positive or negative impact to the life of the NANP. However, if a new technical routing solution is developed that requires service providers to establish additional LRNs, then assignment of additional central office codes to facilitate those additional LRN needs could negatively impact the lives of particular NPAs and the overall life of the NANP.

9. NANC Action Items on Nationwide Number Portability (NNP) 903/24/2016 Issue #2 – NRUF Form 502 Impacts: Assuming there are no changes to the assignment process for central office codes and thousands-blocks, and ported out numbers would continue to be reported as “Assigned” by the block holder or code holder on the NRUF Form 502, the implementation of NNP would have no impact on the NRUF Form 502. The NOWG’s final report in response to the NANC action items on NNP was provided to the NANC members on March 3, 2016. NANPA’s input is attached to the NOWG’s report as Exhibit 1.
