When you are a Pashtun you generally follow the Pashtun tribal system which is set around Islam The majority of Pashtuns are Sunni Muslims They Speak the language of Pashtu In Afghanistan Pashtuns are known as the higher class and in The Kite Runner by Khaled Hoesseini a lot of times it shows how Baba and Amir who are Pashtuns are far more wealthy than Hassan and Ali who are Hazaras.

Role of Pashtun Women in Afghanistan In the Pashtun culture if the Bride does not display signs of virginity on the wedding night she may be in risk of being murdered The goal in life for most women in Afghanistan is to have a successful marriage with many sons Typically in Afghanistan a families social position depends on the public behavior of its female members When young women marry they join their husbands household with his family Pashtun women in public are dressed in a burqa, a veil that covers them from head to below the knees

7. Role of Pashtun Men in Afghanistan Men are expected to be leaders, protectors and disciplinarians The eldest male holds complete authority over the extended family Married sons live in their fathers households, rather than having homes of their own

Employment and Education of Pashtuns in Afghanistan Today Pashtuns in Afghanistan are mostly working in agriculture and some in poor conditions Those who are looking for a better living typically move to Pakistan The education in Afghanistan was disrupted by the Russian Invasion in 1978 but it continued in such places as mosques and religious institutes

9. Pashtun Cultural Heritage They have a folk song tradition that includes certain songs for marriages and funerals They also write poems known as Matal which are very popular Religious prohibitions prevent Pashtuns and all Muslims from eating pork and from drinking alcoholic beverages
