2. My Background Born in Paris, France to American parents  Spoke French as first language  Came to Virginia Beach, VA when 6 years old  Fluent in English in 6 months, but had to relearn French in High School

3. My Education Attended the College of William & Mary, but didn’t enjoy it, so I withdrew Took a few art courses at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, VA Transferred to DePaul University in Chicago, IL  Majored in Anthropology (~4 th major) Concentration in Medical Anthropology and Archaeology Only helpful for getting a job if you have a PhD Wanted to pursue Forensic Anthropology

4. My Education Worked in Advertising in Chicago Went to evening classes in Forensic Science at Northwestern University, in Chicago Had an epiphany – I wanted to teach Biology

5. My Education Returned to DePaul University for a Master of Education degree in teaching science  After 4 years I finished this summer and the diploma is in the mail P.S. – This fall I’m taking a course to begin learning American Sign Language

6. Teaching I taught Zoology at a predominantly Latino school in Chicago

7. Teaching This is my 3 rd year teaching at Freeman I also co-sponsor Rebelettes 2009 with Mrs. Campfield

8. My Family Parents divorced when I was 5 Both returned to America separately  Mother, brother, and I settled in VA  Father settled in Chicago, but now lives in Taos, NM

9. My Family Have had many siblings, half-siblings, and step-siblings Step-sister is in Medical School in Denver, CO Half-brother just finished high school  Spending year in Germany

10. My Family Brother lives in Taos, NM  Has Master’s degree in Bioelectrical Engineering, traveled the world for a year, and now lives a more “green” life

11. My Family Mother still lives in Virginia Beach, VA Has Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Master’s degree in Political Science, and finished PhD coursework in Social Work Now volunteers and plays bridge

12. My Family Met my husband in Chicago, IL He had worked in business world for 9 years, and realized he didn’t enjoy his job anymore Decided to attend Law School, and fell in love with University of Richmond  Finishing his last year!

13. My Family My only child, Daisy, is a 1 ½ years old Maybe one day we’ll have a real child that can use the toilet

14. So, if you haven’t noticed… From my family, I’ve learned:  Nobody knows what they want to do with the rest of their lives  You always have to be flexible  Life is funny – you must have a sense of humor  And….

15. It’s never too late to learn something new
