2.   Born on August 14, 1883 in Charleston, South Carolina.  His parents were Charles Frazier Just Jr. and Mary Matthews Just.  His father and grand father were doc builders and both died when Ernest was four.  Ernest had a younger brother and younger sister.  His mother worked in a mine and founded a town named Maryville in her honor. 3.   Ernest went to an all boys boarding school in Orangeburg, South Carolina when he was thirteen.  For a high school education Ernest went to Kimball Union Academy. Graduating valedictorian.  He then proceeded to graduate from Dartmouth College with special honors in zoology. Education

4.   The first job he took was a teaching position at Howard University in Washington D.C.  He was in charge of department of biology and zoology at this college.  While working here, he took leave and went to Chicago University and got a Doctorate degree in experimental embryology. 5.   He took many zoology experiments while living in Naples, Italy.  He relocated to finish his studies in Paris when the German Nazis took control of Italy.  Conducting more studies in Roscoff, France, the French advised foreigners to evacuate to escape the Nazis. Ernest had stayed to finish his work and was imprisoned.  Ernest Everett Just researched the embryology of many cells and the effect of radiation of ultra violet rays on cells. Accomplishments

6.   Upon returning home from France, he died from being very ill while being imprisoned. Ernest Everett Just died on October 27, 1941. Death
