3 Introductions Who you are Past leadership experience –either as a leader or as being led Any significant experiences you have had being mentored by a good leader Introductions if it’s a small enough group: 10 minutes Stand up, introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your past leadership experience. It could be about your own experience as a leader, or about a significant experience you have had being mentored by a particularly memorable leader –good or bad.

5 Group Exercise What does it take to be an effective leader? Describe the attributes or behaviours of a good leader How might our own leadership style be influenced Can we change/manage our current style?

8 So What Now? Consider how your style will fit with your current or future leadership position Will it work? Should you adjust?

10 Building Your Leadership Plan Reflect –what did I learn? Compare accomplishments with objectives Seek support and feedback Coach and mentor others Consider personal accomplishments achieved

11 Tips from Beth about being a good role model Model good behaviour –Time management –Being on time –Follow through promptly –Practice integrity –Keep a to-do list to be accountable –Be prepared and willing to “roll up your sleeves” with the rest of your team

12 Tips Be approachable –open door, body language, etc. Give clear directions Listen and accept feedback from your peers/team members Be prepared to take responsibility Share the glory Don’t ever stop trying to improve
