18 December 13, 2011Giga Tracker Working Group meeting M.Noy & M. Morel18 AFG3252 Pulse Generator Lecroy SDA13000 Serial Data Analyser GTK test board 300m fiber HP Pulse generator SINGLE pulse transmission from 0.05 to 100Mhz Optical transmitter: OCP (single mode) Finisar (multi mode) Measured with Photodiode

19 December 13, 2011Giga Tracker Working Group meeting M.Noy & M. Morel19 OCPFINISAR Below 1Mhz FINISAR optical transceiver starts to show irregularities on amplitude and offset and also in the form of the pulse. Good behavior of the OCP transceiver even with very low Frequency SINGLE pulse transmission from 0.05 to 100Mhz

20 December 13, 201120Giga Tracker Working Group meeting M.Noy & M. Morel Conclusion GTK carrier board Delivery expected this week ; Clock distribution Both solutions tested and perform adequately up to 480 MHz; signal conversion, fan-out, full length PCB traces and bonding wires are all included in the measurements; OCP preferred to unify choice of fiber for control signals; Data transmission Tyco tested with 3.5Gb/s, full trace lengths (25-50 cm), and bonding wires; performance remains good even in most stringent cases; Single Pulse transmission OCP demonstrates good performance across whole range of repetition rates; Finisar exhibits variable offset and signal amplitude and sub-optimal pulse reconstruction in the lower part of the frequency range.

21 December 13, 2011Giga Tracker Working Group meeting M.Noy & M. Morel21 Next steps Integration of Ceramic and Silicon mock-ups with the GTK carrier Continue testing Data transmission with Multi Mode Optical attenuator which will be delivery early January Find and test a Photodiode with a very fast comparator (Evaluation board ordered, delivery time expected on 03/2012) and conclude the single pulse transmission tests.
