2 When I grow up… 1.Complete the “My Work Learning Style” inventory. 2.Write about 2 jobs you might want to have when you are an adult. Explain why you would be good at each job. 3.Pair-Share; Ask questions about the jobs you discuss

3 Job Skills Read and Talk page 22. Create a job skills web.

4 Job Skills When we talk about job skills, we can look at it 2 ways. 1.Soft Skills- These are personality traits that make you a good worker Examples: 2.Hard Skills- These are things you know how to do or have experience with. Examples: Practice categorizing soft and hard skills using the Smart Board interactive activity.

5 Job Skills Evaluate yourself! Complete the skills and job experience portion of your work portfolio.

6 Labor Force Read and Talk page 23. Partner Discussion: Are you part of the labor force? Is Mrs. Gross part of the labor force? Are your parents part of the labor force?

7 Labor Force Assignment: Interview 2 people who are part of the labor force. Write (can be typed for extra credit) a paragraph about each person containing the following information: 1.Their name 2.Their job title 3.Where they work 4.Responsibilities they have at work 5.How long they have been at this job. 6.If they went to college in order to get this job. This assignment is due…

8 Changes Discuss with a partner and ask questions about the information tells you.

9 Changes Read and Talk page 24. Exit Slip: On a separate piece of paper, answer the questions on page 24.

10 Fair Labor Before reading, discuss these things with a partner: What is minimum wage in Illinois? How many hours a week is considered full time? How much money do you make if you work overtime? How old do you have to be to work? Do men and women get paid the same amount of money?

11 Fair Labor Read and Talk page 25. Complete the “Labor Facts” worksheet with a partner.
