2 Peter 3:15-16: So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures. Key terms: 1. Exegesis 2. Eisegesis 3. Hermeneutics is the art and science of Biblical interpretation. It is a science because it has rules that can be classified into an orderly system. It is an art because the rules cannot always be rigidly applied.

Biblical literature has both: 1. Eternal relevance 2. Historical particularity Biblical interpretation involves two steps: 1. Exegesis 2. Application Historical-grammatical method considers: 1. the text’s linguistic medium and genre 2. geographic, cultural, and historical setting 3. life setting of author & original readers

Exegesis - is a critical explanation or interpretation of a text, especially a religious text. Eisegesis - is the process of misinterpreting a text in such a way that it introduces one's own ideas, reading into the text.

Not just stories about people. God is the main character and what He did is the main theme. Not allegories or stories filled with hidden meanings Do Not always teach directly. They emphasize God’s nature. Each narrative does not always have its own moral.
