3 Right now you have one layer. Your first layer is called “Background.”

4 Click and drag the background copy to the layers icon.

5 You have just created a background copy. There are now two layers to the photograph.

6 Highlight the background copy. Click on the layer adjustment Icon at the bottom of the screen and highlight “Black and White”.

7 Make sure you stay on the black and white layer of your layers

8 Click on the white rectangle in the black and white layer. Once you click on it you should see the corner brackets show up

9 In the tool bar select the eraser tool (this will erase the black and white from the picture and show the color) You can change the eraser style and size by clicking on this icon You can also change the opacity of your eraser here. I would select any % from 40- 100 *The brush tool should put the black and white back in the picture.

10 Master Diameter = Size of Brush

11 Hardness = How much the brush blurs 0= blurry

12 It is best to use the zoom tool so that you can be more accurate.

13 Shortcut Zoom buttons: Command + Shortcut Zoom out buttons: Command - Shortcut Brush size larger: } (bracket key) Shortcut Brush size smaller: { (bracket key) Use Command Z to erase the last thing you did.

14 Paint the color back into the photo on your object that will be emphasized.

15 Use the brush tool if you go outside the part you are colorizing.

16 PSD= Photoshop file Save as a PSD if you are not done.

17 JPEG= Image file Save as a JPEG if when you are done.

18 Mac Server->Projects-> Your folder-> Pleasantville-> Within your folder create two folders: Original and Pleasantville Put all 20 original photos in original folder and rename: Pleasantville (1) Pleasantville (2)…. Colorize 20 photos and save them as a JPEG in the Pleasantville folder.
