2.  Go: For 10 points= open a Word Document and Save it as “PIANO JOURNAL” in your H Drive Piano Folder. Show me when you have it. Practice C scales for 5 minutes.  Learn:  Go, Learn, Show and Practice Etiquette  Learn Hanon’s Exercise #1 in the right hand using the video in the Week 2 folder.  Show: For 10 points, show Hanon’s exercise #1 in the right hand. Once you’ve shown and got a thumbs up, move ahead in the video and learn the left hand. Then try both at the same time!

3.  Go: For 10 points, immediately login and read Piano I Expectations in the week 2 folder. Take a slip of paper at your piano and write “I have read the expectations and procedures and I agree to follow them.” Please print your name and sign your name. Run scales and Hanon’s #1.  Learn: Practice Etiquette for 10 pts.  Positioning and & Ascending vs. Descending  Show: Each technique once learned for 10 pts.

6. Q. Look at the Middle C note above. Write another way to describe how to locate middle C other than what is written above?

7. A note is just one key! A chord is a number of keys played Simultaneously (at the same time). PLAY them! Play a C Note, then a C Chord.

9. Go: For 10 points, login to this lesson. In the week 2 folder, watch two videos: 1. The video on Hand Position to see if you’ve been holding your hand correctly when you play. Practice scales with this shape of the hands. 2. The Hallelujah Video. Learn: You will learn arpeggios and learn parts of the song Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. You learned the right hand positions. Now, the left is the same, only use your pinky to define what position you’re in. Exercise proper practice etiquette for 10 points. Show: C arpeggio to A arpeggio with both hands for 10 points. Repeat and practice.

11. First, play C Chord: LH 5 3 1 3RH 1 3 5 3 at the same time. Then try!  C (down to)  G (up to)  A (down to)  E (up to)  F (down to)  C (up to)  F (up to)  G (up to start over at middle C position)

12.  Go: 10 points= login right away to Lesson 2d. Make sure you can play each of the 6 elements below.  Learn: Create your own song using what you learned this week. Your song must have these 6 things included:  1. a note  2. a chord  3. an arpeggio  4. at least 4 different hand positions  5. you must start on a C and end on a C  6. you must use both hands at some point in your song  Show: the song before you leave for 10 points. Answer this question on a Music Slip before you leave.  Q. What challenges did you find while trying to create your own song?

13.  2014-2015  Students had trouble following Go, Learn, Show structure. Some didn’t start GO.  Students played thumb and pinky 2x for Hanon’s Right Hand Exercise.  New student added week 2. Design a latecomer packet that they can use to get caught up.
