1. Lucy and Ancestry

2.  Lucy is the name given to an ancient bi-pedal species, discovered in North Eastern Africa of which has evolved over time to become human.  Lucy is significant because her species is the first to be discovered as adapting from life in the trees to life on the ground.

3.  Lucy demonstrates how a species can adapt to its environment for survival  It is hypothesized that Lucy’s environment changed from mostly Jungle to Savannah (or grasslands).  Her species survived this change because they were able to adapt by walking on two legs, as the number of trees in their environment slowly declined
