12. THE BICYCLE-SHARING INITIATIVE  (Vote yes or no on it after presentation by Boje) Proposal is attached (20 minutes)

SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL ACTIONS  MOTION  Sustainability Council recommends Bike Share program be implemented as part of STARS reaccreditation :  Faculty Senate to provide a Memorial supporting the development of Bike Sharing on campus  ASNMSU for support of Bike Sharing, including cost share allocation 40% from ASNMSU fees and 60% from NMSU operations  Then to Provost, and finally Purchasing to issue RFP

STEPS: SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL  FACULTY SENATE MEMORIAL  ASNMSU BILL-> PROVOST  REGENTS  RFP FROM NMSU PURCHASING TO VENDORS  Once all the above steps have been completed, the resulting memorials, bills, supporting  letters of support will be compiled and presented to the NMSU Provost Dr. Dan Howard.  Once the Provost has reviewed the provided package and approves it the  project will be  added to the Board of Regents agenda for discussion and further consideration  Then when all sign off, it goes to NMSU Purchasing for RFP

15. DISCUSSION: WHY NMSU SHOULD HAVE A BIKE SHARE PROGRAM?  Promotes healthy life style for NMSU Faculty,staff, and students  Promotes safety and awareness for pedestrians, cyclists and motorist  Reduce Carbon emission and positive impact on NMSU carbon footprint  Students will no longer need their own bikes  Increase interest in attending NMSU by having a Bike share available  Will improve our status with the League of American Bicyclist which is bronze level now.

16. FUNDING  ASNMSU 40% start up Cost and continued operational cost with Student Activity Fees  NMSU 60% start up and Cost and continued operation cost  Sponsors, Ads, and user fees to pay for costs of continued operation after 1 st year
