3 Collaborate Definition: a recursive process where two or more people or organizations work together toward an intersection of common goals — for example, an intellectual endeavor that is creative in nature by sharing knowledge, learning and building consensus

5 Food for thought - Collaboration How important is collaboration in your kitchen/organization? What amount of collaboration is enough to get the most out of your colleagues and maximize production? When is does too much collaboration prevent the best performance?

6 Ownership If people are engaged in the development of processes they will be more likely to own the process. When people are engaged and invested in an organization their feeling of ownership increases. When companies have people that have an ‘ownership’ interest, they COOK!

7 Food for thought - Ownership Do you take ownership/responsibility for how the food tastes in your kitchen? Or how your organization performs? Do you empower you colleagues to take ownership and responsibility? When one of you dishes doesn’t taste good or there is a mishap in the kitchen, how do you respond? Who cleans up the mess?

8 Organization Right People, Right Place It is essential that organizations have the right people in the right place Everyone has a gift, find the gifts that they bring to the organization and share them If you have a skill/competency you are obligated to bring those skills to bear on the organization Building on the skills and competencies of the individual, creates the foundation for organizations that COOK!

9 Food for thought - Organization Is your kitchen a safe place to experiment with new herbs, spices, new dishes? Do you have too many cooks? Do you have the right chefs making the right dishes? Do you have all the necessary cooking utensils, pots and pans to make the dishes that need to be made?

10 Kinetic Leadership Kinetic Leadership happens when the strongest person in the situation leads, irrespective of rank or position Flexibility is critical to respond to ever changing situations and opportunities. Leadership must be able to delegate and trust the team to perform. Leadership must change to match skills/competencies with the opportunities. Organizations with kinetic leadership COOK!

11 Food for thought – Kinetic Leadership Is there enough room in the kitchen for all your chefs? Is your kitchen a place where each chef has an opportunity to make their famous, special dish and are the allowed to do so? Do you prepare dishes that feature individual talents of your chefs?
