1 BACWA RECYCLED WATER COMMITTEE

2 Recycled Water Committee 16 agencies represented Coordinate and collaborate on short-term and long-term regional water recycling programs. Collaborate to secure state and/or federal funding for recycled water projects. Investigate methods to develop regional partnerships and cooperation to coordinate and facilitate region-wide recycled water projects and programs.

3 Statewide General Recycling Permit Committee members participated in conference calls with agencies and organizations located throughout the state to discuss the development of the permit, and represented the Committee's interests Committee has been given updates on the development of the permit via e-mail, conference calls, and discussions at RW Committee meetings Represent common interest

4 Funding Opportunities Participate in Bay Area Integrated Regional Water Management Plan Regional and Sub-regional project prioritization process under development Grant funding for projects may not be available until fall 2009

5 Funding Opportunities Title XVI A coalition of Bay Area agencies (presently 9 agencies) is pursuing Title XVI funding as a region Open to all agencies that have recycled water projects authorized through Title XVI of the Reclamation Wastewater and Groundwater Study and Facilities Act of 1992 FY09 Appropriations Monitor the process and advocate for $17 million that was included in the House Energy and Water Appropriations Bill for the Coalition’s projects

6 Funding Opportunities FY10 Appropriations Plan to submit requests for Title XVI funding for approximately $32 million New Authorization Bill Pursuing additional project authorization for 6 new projects The last House-passed version of the Economic Stimulus Bill included $126 million for Title XVI projects
