7 The message below was written by Arthur R. Hefren (the company’s founder) to one of our financial advisors in 1975. The wisdom is timeless and will always serve us well. “It goes to prove that the Rotary Cub motto holds true. That is “he profits most who serves the best”. The thing you should be most proud of is that you have always considered your client’s welfare as being of prime importance. In my mind, you have accomplished what you have because of your quiet sincere way that has impressed your clients. I have never known you to compromise your principles just to make a sale. I’m sure that your high ideals will help you to have an even better year this year”. Arthur R. Hefren Lessons from 65 Years of Meticulous Wealth Management

8 Personal “Family” (includes the HT family) is the most important thing – never give up on them. Material things can be replaced. People can’t and are most important. Everyone deserves respect. Thank others – often. Don’t take yourself too seriously or ever feel you are too important. Character Do what is right – integrity in thought and action. Do what you say you will do – that’s how people develop trust. Always tell the truth – that way, you never have to wonder what you said. Always do your best (no excuses when things are hard). Admit when you are wrong. Apologize when it is in order. Never stop learning. A sense of humor goes a long way. Business Work hard and take pride in what you are able to accomplish. Never present a recommendation or idea without conviction. The client is always right (even when they aren’t). Mistakes happen – the important thing is to learn from them and prevent repeating them. Don’t make disagreements in business personal. Once a decision is made, move forward. Lessons From the Life of Willard (Bill) J. Tillotson, Jr.
