6 Key Issues Western High School needs to investigate methods to ensure that the high expectations for student achievement and the rigorous curricular opportunities that exist in much of the school curriculum become uniform throughout the entire campus. Western High School should examine both the current English Learner strategies and interventions and the current Inclusion strategies and evaluate their effectiveness for student achievement. Western High School should investigate the use of professional learning communities to provide structured collaboration time and to focus professional development on analyzing data and to provide additional training in best practices to support English Learners and students with special needs within general education classrooms. Western High School should review and evaluate the effectiveness of the current programs and committees with their regard to overall student progress and academic success.
