Distribution The fly is from Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. First found in Texas in 1927 because of the fly larvae getting into the fruit being shipped to North America. The fly has spread to other states like California.

Farmers lose a ton of money due to the infected fruit. When humans consume the infected fruit, they can be consuming as many as 40 fruit fly eggs!

The flies eat many fruits especially grapefruit, oranges, peaches, and pears. Then the flies lay eggs and the larvae eats the remains of the fruit. This means there is less food for the herbivores who eat the fruit, however the flies themselves become food for predators especially spiders and frogs.

The flies have ample amounts of fruit available, therefore they have a lot of food. The flies have so many offspring, the population of MFF is growing at a gigantic rate.

Fruit’s numbers will plummet, costing billons of dollar. People will get sick from the infected fruit. Less food for organisms who eat fruit.

Humans sterilize the male so he can’t reproduce. This makes the population of MFF go down. However the process costs lot of money and there's no room for error.
