17 TAKE AN EXAM Only Specialized High Schools require exams. They are: The Bronx H.S. of Science H.S. of American Studies at Lehman College Brooklyn Technical High School The Brooklyn Latin School Stuyvesant High School High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College Queens High School for the Sciences at York College Staten Island Technical High School Fiorello H. LaGuardia H.S.

18 CRITERIA FOR ADMISSIONS TO ALL OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS Screened Programs- Schools look at standardized test scores, grades, and Attendance. Limited Unscreened- gives priority to students who show an interest. Educational Option-Cross section of academic performance. (Top 2%) Audition- Talent of skill in a specific area. IE. Voice, Dance, Music, and Drama. Zoned- If you live in the geographic area of the school.

19 The High School Directory Each School Has a page in the High School Directory which lists the Criteria for each program. Determine if you meet the criteria for the program(s) you are interested in. Rank your choices in order of preference. You may apply to more than one program to a school. You have up to 12 choices. Choose from a variety of different programs Do not choose a school that is more then an 20 minutes away from your home You will only be matched to one school.

Student with an interest in Journalism Level 3 or 4 on standardized reading ELA exam 85+ in English 85 overall average *Attendance (if there are extenuating circumstances, please explain.)

25 Mentor Law and Humanities Institute (Q16A) Students are picked from 3 catgories: On grade level in reading (68%) Above grade level in reading (16%) Below grade level in reading (16%) 85+ in English and 85+ average *Attendance (if there are extenuating circumstances, please explain) Top 2% Special consideration
