What Mom gave me on my wedding day. “Ten Commandments for Our Son” – June 8, 19— This may apply to our wives and our mothers.  Remember that thy wife is thy partner and not thy property.  Do not expect thy wife to be thy wife, wage earner, mother, and housekeeper at the same time.  Think not that thy business is none of thy wife’s business.  Thou shalt make the building of thy home thy first business.  Thou shalt cooperate with thy wife in establishing family discipline – not just children discipline.  Thou shalt enter into thy house with cheerfulness.  Thou shalt not let anyone to criticize thy wife to thy face and get away with it; neither thy father nor thy mother nor thy brethren nor thy relatives.  Thou shalt not take thy wife for granted.  Remember thy home, to keep it holy.

John 15:1-11 NKJ "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. 9 " As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. 11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

Satisfaction and Success in Him The Figure of the Story  The illustration is a vineyard  A vinedresser, a vine, a pruning, fruit, etc. The Flow of Strength  From vine to branch  We need His strength – not vice versa. The Fruit of Success  Vs. 2,4,5,8,11  Ephesians 2:10; Gal. 5:22,23; 6:9 The Failure of Separation  Vs. 2,4,5,6 Third / Second Person The Foundation of Stability  The Father’s Work – Vs. 1,2,8  The Son’s Word – The commands (Abide, keep, bear)

7. How is your vine-life? Are you completely wrapped up in the person of Jesus Christ? He is the only source of satisfaction/success. Continue your pipeline in the vine. The old life attitudes and appetites do not satisfy. Your new engine runs on different fuel! Are you devoted to Him – “devotioned” in Him? Mothers – are you AT HOME in the vine? That is the place of satisfaction and success.
