5 Generation Y’s… Caitlin LiSooey  are born since 1980  are new in the “job pool”  are more in touch with technology  work more efficiently than “older employees”  have a different work style - “work asynchronously”  communicate and coordinate electronically

6 Task-Based Work - Pros Caitlin LiSooey  Flexible Hours  employees put in as much work as needed per task  New Performance Gauge  employees performance measured in quality of work rather than amount of time  Networking  allows employees to work and communicate from almost anywhere  Freedom and Responsibility  engages employee in their work and provides them the freedom to be innovative

7 Task-Based Work - Cons Caitlin LiSooey  Less Pay  task-based jobs usually result in a decrease in pay from time-based jobs  Time Management  employees must have excellent time management skills in order to accomplish tasks on time  Integration in Today’s Workplace  making the switch from time- to task-based work may be difficult to integrate into pre-existing workplaces

8 Personal Conclusion Caitlin LiSooey  task-based work is perfect for “Generation Y”  companies that offer task-based jobs are going to be recruiting the top young employees in their field  the switch from time- to task-based work is not going to be a fast or immediate one  if more companies do not offer task-based work, more and more people will be looking for freelance jobs instead of tradition office jobs
