2. TAIWANESE CULTURE Overview of Culture: Stereotypes that we do not want to encourage. Genders equal due to internet and international influence. Students work harder due to parental pressure Leads to good grades Scholarships to college Awards.

3. HISTORY History of Culture: American culture sees Taiwan as the place that makes cheap plastic things. Not recognized as a country by the world due to pressure from China. Due to the internet and large amount of expats in the country many people know English or have their children learn English.

4. EDUCATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS Educational Consideration: Language needs ELL students Translating papers for parents Tutors for students that need extra help Respect for holidays and other cultural aspects.

5. INCLUSION IDEAS Inclusionary Practices: Class website With information about the cultural backgrounds for the students in the class. This can be for students or parents to help get to know the cultures their students classmates come from. Cultural holiday celebrations Holiday lessons instead of the day off. That way students can learn about new traditions and holidays they didn’t know about before. International Politics and geography classes Classes for older students so they have a better understanding of the world they live in and the people that they share the world with.

6. PARENT INVOLVEMENT Parents have a lot of say in their students lives and building up their students self esteem. They can help students by helping with homework and encouraging students with their school activities. Students need their parents to get them to and from school, have all the school supplies they need, and a conductive environment to learn. Parents are around students more often then teachers so they can make sure the students get their homework done and get to after school activities.

7. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Communities are made up of the people and businesses around the school. Businesses and political councilmen that are willing and able to help the school with student fund raisers and activities. Renting halls, Raising money, Planning sport and activities Cultural fair Put on by the parents and the community to represent the different cultures that make up the school. Each business or group picks one culture and does a booth with information and food and drinks from that culture.
