Air Pollution By Jason Heninger

Problem/Issue All of our cars, factories, fires, and coal burning plants are contributing to make our air so polluted.

Governing Entity Utah Department of Environmental Quality Director: Bryce Bird

Relation to Earth Science Air is polluted from all of the driving around and factories that we have. We need to find new ways to help clean up our air. With Earth Science we can help find new ways to clean up our air and keep it clean.

Research Air pollution in Utah gets an “F” grade from the American Lung Association The U.S has some of the highest polluted states. (Shown on next slide) Although the us is polluted, the highest polluted place in the world is Lifen, China.

Highest Polluted States in the U.S 1. Ohio 2. Pennsylvania 3. Florida 4. Kentucky 5. Maryland 6. Indiana 7. Michigan 8. West Virginia 9. Georgia 10. North Carolina

Call to Action Everyone can help clean up our air. Also we can find new ways to clean our air.

Ways we can help clean our air Conserve energy - turn off appliances and lights when you leave the room. Recycle paper, plastic, glass bottles, cardboard, and aluminum cans. (This conserves energy and reduces production emissions.) Keep woodstoves and fireplaces well maintained. You should also consider replacing old wood stoves with EPA-certified models. Plant deciduous trees in locations around your home to provide shade in the summer, but to allow light in the winter. Buy green electricity-produced by low-or even zero-pollution facilities. These ways have been given to us by the EPA.
