Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Selling f5 Load Balancers When you purchase many DELL servers, you can balance the load on servers using F5’s LTM by optimizing performance and availability of server or virtual server resources. Benefits of Intelligent Load Balancers: Availability: Channel traffic to servers that have free resources to service requests. Poorly performing servers receive less requests. Redundancy: Downed servers are removed from rotation. Scaling: When business increase - new servers are brought online - have load balancers send traffic to additional servers Performance: Free server resources by offloading processor-intensive operations such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) handling. Disaster recovery: React quickly to data center crashes by using global traffic management: technology to redirect application traffic to the failover site. Movement of live virtual machines: Enable automated long distance migration of VMs and data between data centers

Dell - Internal Use - Confidential How Does A f5 Load Balancer Work ? 1.Let’s say the customer has 3 Dell web servers – A, B and C. 2.Server A’s performance and response time is typically slow; Server B’s performance and response time is moderate; Server C’s performance and response time is fast. 3.A client sends a request to the data center. 4.F5 LTM connects the client to the most suitable server (Server C in this example). 5.When the server completes its processing, the requested information is returned to the client. 6.The F5 LTM will perform the above load balancing on requests made by all clients. 7.Nowadays, secure traffic such as SSL is sent between client and servers. Servers typically process SSL traffic. F5 can process SSL traffic, allowing the server to perform more important tasks such as web and transactions. R510R715 R910

Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Customer Objection: Why Don’t I Buy Additional Servers Instead Of A Load Balancer ? Answer: Additional Dell servers can power your applications but your infrastructure be optimized better using f5 Load Balancer. 1.Availability & Performance: Channel traffic to servers that have free resources to service requests. Poorly performing servers receive less requests e.g. a Dell 320 may receive less requests than Dell 520, Dell 720, Dell 910. 2.F5 can sense response time of Dell, IBM, HP servers – if a server is busy, it will send requests to a server that is free. 3.Redundancy: Downed servers are removed from rotation. 4.Scaling: When business increase - new servers / VMs are brought online. f5 sense new servers & VMs - and f5 send traffic to additional servers or VMs. 5.Preventive Maintenance – during PM servicing, servers can be shutdown safely while other servers continue to serve applications & data

Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Example: A Conversation Between Dell and Customer Conversation (1) Pre Call Research: – Customer is XYZ; Industry: News; Purchased more than 50 Dell Servers; 2 data centers; Web Servers power http://www.xyz.comhttp://www.xyz.com Hello Mr. Smith, My Name Is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _. I am calling from Dell. How are you today ? I am fine. I only have a few minutes left to my next meeting. Better make it quick. Thank-you Mr. Smith. I will be brief and to the point. Today I want to discuss server optimization solutions with you. XYZ has already purchased more than 50 Dell servers. Dell believes it can help you optimize how these servers operate. Tell me. I want to ask you a few questions. Do you experience times when the server performance is slow ? Do end-users expect faster performance from the server ? Yes, from time to time – my servers slow down and online users tell me that their web pages take a longer time to load. Are more and more mobile devices accessing the servers and applications in your data center ? Are more and more applications for mobiles devices being rolled out ? Yes, we rolled out new mobile applications on IOS and Android. How has business growth resulted in increased server and network utilization ? Newspapers are not a sunset industry in our region. In our region, business is growing both in terms of circulation as well as advertising revenue. We bag a high % of advertising. Our servers – we buy these from Dell and other vendors, different models and performance ratings – they have a high utilization rate and utilization continues to grow. Would you like to know more about optimizing server through load balancing ?
16
Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Example: A Conversation Between Dell and Customer Conversation (2) XYZ has heard of load balancing before. Tell me more. 1.Let’s say that XYZ has 3 Dell web servers – A, B and C. 2.Server A’s performance and response time is typically slow; Server B’s performance and response time is moderate; Server C’s performance and response time is fast. 3.A client sends a request to the data center. 4.The load balancer connects the client to the most suitable server (Server C in this example). 5.When the server completes its processing, the requested information is returned to the client. 6.The load balancer will perform the above load balancing on requests made by all clients. 7.Nowadays, secure traffic such as SSL is sent between client and servers. Servers typically process SSL traffic. F5 can process SSL traffic, allowing the server to perform more important tasks such as web and transactions. What are the benefits of a load balancer ? Availability: Channel traffic to servers that have free resources to service requests. Poorly performing servers receive less requests. Redundancy: Downed servers are removed from rotation. Scaling: When business increase - new servers are brought online - have load balancers send traffic to additional servers Performance: Free server resources by offloading processor-intensive operations such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. I have heard that load balancers are expensive. Why don’t I just buy more servers from Dell or IBM or HP ? Additional Dell servers can power your applications but your infrastructure be optimized better using a Load Balancer. Availability & Performance: Channel traffic to servers that have free resources to service requests. Poorly performing servers receive less requests e.g. a Dell 320 may receive less requests than Dell 520, Dell 720, Dell 910. A load balancer can sense response time of Dell, IBM, HP servers – if a server is busy, it will send requests to a server that is free. f5 designs into its functionality the means to do heavy SSL processing - allowing the server to perform more important tasks such as web and transactions. Load balancers accelerate the delivery of the web pages and application data to the end user. F5 Networks accelerate your application e.g. Apache, WebLogic, MS IIS, MS Exchange, Lync, Sharepoint, SAP, Ebusiness Suite to the end-user.
17
Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Example: A Conversation Between Dell and Customer Conversation (3) I have heard that some load balancers are free-of-charge. Why don’t I use these free ones ? Microsoft Network Load Balancer is a free-of-charge downloadable load balancer. However, it is limited in its functionality and low in performance. For XYZ, given the number of servers and applications that you are serving - you need a solution like f5 that accelerates data delivery to the end-user and provides high availability. Would you like to know more about a case study where f5 solutions helped to optimize server architecture ? If it is an international case study – please send it to me. Yes it is. I will send you a PDF format case study. Who is the customer ? Human Rights Watch is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization with a global staff of professionals who investigate and promote human rights issues. With multiple data centers spanning the globe, Human Rights Watch needed a solution that could help ensure high availability for Exchange 2010. With the BIG-IP system, Human Rights Watch saw immediate improvements in messaging and high availability Do you have any case studies in my industry in EMEA. Dell - Internal Use - Confidential FAQ For ISRs / TSRs : Why Choose f5 Software Load Balancer instead of Microsoft NLB ? Microsoft NLBF5 LTM Software Load Balancer Strengths Free – shipped together with Windows ServerBandwidth: from 200Mbps to 3Gbps – able to scale and grow as your business grows L7 application load balancer – each application service’s health can be monitored. If one application fails, the others can continue Intelligent load balancing – round robin, ratio, least connections, fastest, observed Future Upgrade Path: Global Traffic Management, Firewall, Security Many mission critical success wins on LTM VE Weaknesses Bandwidth: Max of 500Mbps ** cannot scale Is Network L4 load balancer. No L7 application load balancer. When L4 is down, entire server is down and all applications down Lack flexibility e.g. *ONLY* has fixed ratio based load balancing. If server is busy, load balancer continue to send requests to it. When any server goes down in an NLB cluster, all active connections to all servers are forced to break and reconnect in order to recalculate the new ratio and re-form the cluster. No upgrade or growth path for your business Low cost investment needed. ** http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Forefrontedgegeneral/thread/bd9128af-b9de-4a3d-9f1d-964ef5148246

Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Case Study Summary AutoScout24 Scout24 is a leading business group, offering online marketplaces throughout Europe in areas such as mobility, housing, employment, relationships, and finance. One of its most successful online market-places is AutoScout24. Drivers: The site’s overwhelming success began to severely test the company’s IT systems. Performance problems during peak periods grew, manifested through longer page load times. Like any e-commerce business, AutoScout24’s IT department was very conscious of the fact that sluggish response times frustrate customers and make it more likely that they spend less time on the website, or even avoid it completely. Solution:Efficient traffic management is handled by a combination of BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager and BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager on 6800 series hardware devices. The BIG-IP solutions redistribute end-user requests based on business policy, datacentre, and network conditions, as well as application performance. AutoScout24 has two data centres at different locations. Traffic is routed to the location best capable of handling it at a given point in time. Benefits: Reduced page load times by 20% - 30-40 percent increase in users, increases sales revenues * double click on PDF case study and send it to Dell customer
