Go Live at Box Hill 8 th June, 2010 Guidance MS is an electronic decision support and approval system for antibiotic prescribing. The system is being introduced as part of the Victorian Government’s ‘Start clean – Victorian Infection Control Strategy 2007-11’ Inappropriate antibiotic use is seen as a key reason for increasing antibiotic resistance. This program is expected to improve antimicrobial use by providing advice on antibiotic selection and limiting use of antibiotics to accepted indications. Training to use the system will take place over the coming months. This will occur at Box Hill initially before being extended to other acute sites. Clinical pharmacists will be available to provide advice on the system.
