2 Who Should Attend This is the second seminar in 2011 organised by the executive group of ISRM – Cymru Wales and will provide a unique opportunity to receive quality presentations on the “Global Impacts” that are linked to major events. It is often mentioned that “one off” events can be excessively costly and unproductive in terms of money ‘well spent’. What are the outcomes of recent major events (Ryder Cup, Commonwealth Games etc) in terms of benefits; what do they bring for the future of sport, communities and businesses in general. For the future, how are we prepared as a nation to host and manage major events on a World Stage? This seminar should draw the attention of Welsh Government Ministers, Officials, Heads of LA Services, Directors/Managers of the Private sector and a range of other professionals associated with sport and leisure provision whether strategically or operational “The cherished milestones in all our individual lives are marked by events. They are the movements that shape our destinies and remain etched in our memories. Major events have a powerful, almost indefinable quality to capture the essence of both individual and collective expressions. They connect us with the past and the future Nation building is a process not an event. But events illustrate and illuminate that journey as it is mapped into the future Major events influence the way we see Wales and the world, and how the world sees Wales” Ieuan Wyn Jones – Deputy First Minister and Alun Ffred Jones – Minister for Culture Welsh Assembly Government Source – Major Events Strategy 2010 – 2020 The seminar, coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch is FREE of charge to all ISRM members, guests are welcome for a non – refundable fee of £35 per person.
