Preparation of the A/C. The loading team will be responsible for preparing helicopters for shipment to include cleaning, securing loose equipment, supplying shoring and required crates for removed components and required ground support equipment. The following items will be completed by the Movements Officer 1. Prior Coordination with Air Force 2. Ensure A/C has no more than 850 lbs.of fuel 3. Verification and Marking of Shipping Weights 4. Preparation of Manifest 5. Proper notification and documentation of Hazardous Materials on board

3 Prepare Aircraft for Loading
Ground Helicopter to appropriate receptacle and apply ac power Position stabilator to 0 deg, and apply full right pedal. Remove ac pwr Disconnect A/C battery and analyzer and tape up battery receptacle Position rotor head so yellow index marks on rotating and stationary swashplate line up. Engage gust lock and make sure yellow index marks line up. Remove antenna on tail rotor pylon Stow cargo hook Unlatch and hinge lower anticollision light into tail cone

4 Hydraulic Cart Connection
Remove landing gear fairings and covers from main and tail gear Remove tail cone covers on right and left sides Connect hoses to landing gear quick disconnect fittings Measure exposed portion of strut on left, right and tail assemblies Connect Hydraulic Cart to 28 vdc source For C-5 loading, extend main landing gear struts until cargo floor is 30 inches above ground. Extend tail gear strut until there is 30 inches between ground and tail landing gear fairing attachment area near yoke attachment area

5 Fold Main Rotor, Tail Rotor Blades, and Remove Stabilator
For folding of the Main Rotor blades as well as the Tail Rotor blades TM will be followed All personnel involved will be briefed and be familiar with the blade folding operation Warning Care must be exercised at all times to prevent the damage of critical aircraft components during all operations of folding blades TM will be utilized in the removal of the stabilator Secure the actuator control rod to the pylon with appropriate cushioning material

6 Install Tie Down Plates
Remove left and right landing gear support fairings and cockpit steps Remove roll vibration absorber if installed Install tiedown plates an torque bolts to inch-pounds Stow all equipment in helicopter and secure with tiedowns or appropriate hardware

7 Helicopter Loading Connect Towing Bridal to front of left and right tiedown plates and Cargo aircraft winch to bridle Attach Steering Bar to tail wheel and steering straps to steering bar so assistants can steer aircraft Warning Steering straps will be used on steering bar to provide clearance for personnel from winch cable. Injury to personnel will result if winch cable breaks Assign one personnel to operate the brakes during the operation Load Helicopter by slowly towing aircraft up ramp, until tailwheel is clear of ramp and loaded as per the load plan Set parking brakes and lock tail wheel Load subsequent aircraft as required
