1 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Lockheed Martin - Owego Free Academy Program Proposal

2 What is FIRST? Not-for-profit organization with the goal of encouraging students into Technology and Engineering. FIRST is about building people, and tries to give all students a sense of accomplishment. Founded by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers. Over 1,000 Teams nationwide 33 Regional Competitions Hardest fun ever.

3 The FIRST Robotics Competition High Schools paired with a Corporate Sponsor. Identical ‘Kit of Parts’ provides primary components. Robot built from scratch and must meet real world engineering requirements such as size (5’) and weight (120 lbs.) New game, new rules every year. Beginning in January, teams have six weeks to design, build, test, and ship.

4 Proud Supporter of FIRST Thirty-Four teams supported by Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors: Moorestown, NJ –Team 87 Rancocas Valley Robotics from Rancocas Valley High School –Team 1647 Iron Devils from Seneca High School Missiles and Fire Control: Archbald, PA –Team 1143 Cruzin’ Comets from Abington Heights High School Michoud Space Systems: New Orleans, LA –Team 1550 Botics Squad from O. Perry Walker High School Aeronautical Systems sponsors the Championship Event Source: Lockheed FIRST Robotics Sharepoint Website and 2005 FIRST Robotics Roster
