1 Middle Eastern Change James Winebrenner

2 Tunisia  The Tunisian Revolution was a violent outbreak eventually leading to the ousting of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.  This outbreak was caused by prolonged high unemployment, food inflation, corruption, a lack of freedom of speech, and poor living conditions.

3 Algeria  The protests in Algeria were caused by high unemployment, food price inflation, corruption, restrictions on freedom of speech, and poor living conditions.

4 Egypt  The Egyptian Revolution was non-violent and was demonstrated by marches, civil acts of disobedience, and labor strikes.  This revolution demanded the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.  There were some violent clashes between protestors and security forces.

5 Libya  The Libyan Civil War took place because of people opposing Gaddafi establishing an interim governing body.  This revolution eventually led to an overthrow of the government and the death of Muammar Gaddafi.

6 Saudi Arabia  The Saudi Arabian protests were influenced by the Arab Spring which started with the Tunisian Revolution.

7 Jordan  The Jordanian protests were a series of protests occurring in Jordan in 2011, which resulted in the firing of the cabinet ministers of the government.

8 Yemen  The Yemeni revolution followed the initial stages of the Tunisian Revolution and occurred simultaneously with the Egyptian Revolution and other mass protests in the Middle East in early 2011.

9 Syria  The Syrian civil war, also referred to as the Syrian uprising, is an ongoing armed conflict in Syria between forces loyal to the Ba'ath Party government and those seeking to oust it.
