3 Victim Compensation Program (VCP)

4 Objectives Participants will: 1.Understand Victim Compensation Programs; 2.Know how to fill out an application; and 3.Walk away with ideas for their organization to start accessing VCP

5 Victims Of Crime Act (VOCA, 1984) VOCA created a fund – using criminal fees and penalties – that is distributed to each state every year Each state uses this funding to pay for victim assistance programs and victim compensation programs Under VCP, victims are reimbursed for state-qualified crime- related expenses that aren't covered by other resources (private insurance, Medicare, etc.) See 42 U.S.C. §10601
