4 Sequence of events… Three events—one leading to the next.
ME GRADUATE COLLEGE, TRAVEL WORLD, #BACK ARRIVE, START WORK. ENTER DEAF SCHOOL, BE-RAISED, GRADUATE. MEET, FALL-IN-LOVE, GO-STEADY, MARRIED. OFFER #JOB, SELL HOUSE, MOVE-AWAY fs-MINN. Loan Sign! A loan sign is a fingerspelled word with movement and missing letters. It is used for speed and to show emphasis.

5 When clause practice sentences
Create three sentences for each type of when clause. Gloss them correctly. Create one sequence of event sentence. Sign your sentence sets with three different people and translate on your own paper. Turn in.

6 Unexpected Change--!WRONG! Note Card
Use the WRONG sign in a twisting or emphasized motion to show that something unexpected has happened. This is usually used in negative situations whereas POW can go either way—positive or negative.

Watch situations 1-4 on the DVD and translate. Ethan tells Sandra he thought she had moved away. Sandra explains… Lon asks Malcom why Tom isn’t here. Malcom explains… Cinnie asks Carlene why George has a cast on his leg. Carlene explains… Dan asks why Mary is late. Mary explains…

Watch Cinnie sign about her life. Take notes as we go through the vocabulary that was unfamiliar to you so that we can review it together afterwards. Pages 62-63

Mark Harrison and Liz Svetla appear as contestants on the game show, “A Show of Hands: Places in the World.” The host of the show, Jacqueline Norris, begins by interviewing each contestant. Watch the whole segment then go back and watch it again to answer the questions on your handout.

17 Family Trees… FULL 100% ½ and ½ STRONG CONFLICT

18 Practice time… Practice the family trees on the board with your partner. Remember to use variations for FULL/100% and ½ / ½ and ½ . Using a full sheet of paper create 6 family trees using 100%, FULL, ½, ½ / ½ , STRONG, and CONFLICT . Practice signing… Do not repeat vocabulary unless necessary. Sign your trees for 6 different students. Translate your partners on the back of your paper.

Practice signing the two trees provided. Next week BLOCK come up to my desk. You will choose from two cards and sign the tree you choose for a grade. Pay attention to your possessive hand shapes. Good luck.

The next segment of the DVD is divided into four parts in which signers give dates, years, or addresses. Within each of the first three parts, the dates or years are given in random order. Find the appropriate blank on your handout and write in the dates or years given. For the last part, write down the addresses and zip code in the order signed.

32 It’s a Small World… pages 70-71
When members of the Deaf community first meet, they often try to figure out what community ties they have in common. They may try to identify mutual friends and acquaintances, refer to common experiences, shared interests or knowledge. Watch the next DVD segment in which Yolanda introduces Pat and Priscilla to each other when they meet at a Deaf club. Then answer the questions on your paper.
