4 Introduction Attention Have you ever… Can you imagine… ? Motivation Why is this important? Why should you learn about it now? Overview How much will be covered? How have the ideas been organized? What activities will take place?

5 Motivation Before we get started, there are some things you can expect to gain from this topic. First and foremost, you will gain knowledge on how to enhance your lesson by understanding lesson plan organization. Also you will gain the confidence to be able effectively personalize lesson plans used to teach. This will give you the ability to ensure your students are getting the most out of your instruction. Mastering this lesson will take you one step closer to graduation day and to the graduation certificate that will identify you as an Instructor.

6 Body “Crux of the Biscuit” Lecture: The material/knowledge to be taught to meet the topic objectives (Lecture) Demonstration: Shows how the procedure or skill is done Followed by evaluation of student performance

10 Personalization Read through the entire lesson to gain an understanding of the content Familiarize yourself with topic Understand learning objectives and determine how they will be met

11 Introduction Brief personal history Establish expertise in area of topic Why are you the right person to teach this lesson? Share a personal story when the knowledge to be gained in this lesson has helped you

12 Discussion Points Make a list of critical points you want learners to remember Breakdown discussion points in a logical sequence Add/Enter the notes you will use to accomplish learning objectives Identify examples/analogies for moving information to long term memory Develop at least five open ended questions to confirm learning and comprehension Develop transition statements to provide relationships

13 Review and Summary Determine how you will recap major points of lesson Explain how learning objectives were met Develop at least two factual questions to check learner comprehension Develop a positive statement highlighting the importance of the topic  DO NOT INTRODUCE NEW/EXTRA INFORMATION
