6 Vehicles Allowed Mini buses/Vans (7-9) Coaster type buses (15-25) Coaches JETT Type Allowed to ALL teams, as an alternative to regular vehicles and pickup trucks Allowed for school teams ONLY NOT ALLOWED under any circumstances This regulation applies to ALL participants due to safety concerns on the road. Failure to abide by these rules will lead to automatic disqualification. 6 2 support vehicles ONLY per team !

7 What to check BEFORE leaving Amman!!! 1. Fill up your vehicle tank with fuel. 2. Check your spare tire. 3. Check that you have all the necessary tools in case you have a puncture. 4. Ensure your vehicle papers/insurance are not expired. 5. Pack a first aid kit for minor injuries. 6. Bring your Passport, Residence Permit or Legal ID with you. There are a couple of controls along the route, plus you will need it at Final Check-in. In short, come PREPARED to finish the race HAPPY 7

8 1. Change of clothes 2. A bag to put your sweaty clothes in 3. Enough water for yourself/your team 4. Enough food for yourself/your team 5. Warm clothes for cycling early morning 6. A thermos bottle for hot beverages 7. Sun block cream 8. First aid kit for minor injuries 9. Car phone charger 10. Personal Hygiene products CALL THE CIVIL DEFENSE (911) IMMEDIATELY IN CASE OF SERIOUS INJURIES, THEN NOTIFY A MARSHAL 8 What to take with you on the road

9 Cyclists’ Golden Rules Make sure that: 1.The timing chip is fixed on your helmet 2.The bracelet is on your left wrist 3.The official number is affixed to your bicycle 4.You wear a helmet whenever you are on your bicycle (even if you are warming up) 9

10 Cyclists’ Golden Rules The timing chip -MUST be fixed on your helmet. -CANNOT be exchanged. It is SPECIFIC to each participant. Losing or damaging your Timing Chip might lead to not receiving an official time!! 10

11 Start Line 1.Leave Amman by 2:30 AM to reach the Start Line at 4:00 AM maximum. 2.Final Check-in at the Start Line is MANDATORY. 3.Your ENTIRE team AND all supporters must be at the Start Line Final Check-in. Cyclists MUST show their ID’s. 4.You MUST bring ALL bikes, including your spare bikes, with you to the tent so that we can check them in. 5.All Team member’s race bracelets MUST be fixed on your LEFT wrist by a Race Official before the start of the event. 6.Your timing chip must be fixed on your helmet before race start. 7.Starting cyclists must queue with Elite 1st, Road 2 nd & then Open, in that order, from the Official Start Line. You MUST keep your race bracelet on AT ALL TIMES and until the end of the dinner party at the Mövenpick hotel on Friday evening!!! 11

12 Start Line VEHICLES In order to avoid CONGESTION & ACCIDENTS: 1.A MAXIMUM of 2 vehicles are allowed for each team. 2. Make sure each vehicle has 3 numbers: 1.Rear windshield on the left side 2.Rear side window on the left side 3.Front windshield on the right side 3. All Support cars MUST remain behind the Lead Marshal’s car until he indicates that it is safe to pull forward. This might take no less than 15 minutes. WE ASK YOU TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT THE START. 12

13 Disqualification 1.A helmet must be worn by anyone whilst on their bike, even while warming up. 2. Everyone MUST wear the Official Race Bracelet at all times. 3.Each Team Member or Solo Cyclist’s bicycle MUST have the Official Race Number clearly placed. 4.Vehicles are NOT ALLOWED to drive ahead of OR beside the cyclist unless they are briefly handing support items to the cyclist. This MUST be done from the RIGHT side of the vehicle. Breaking these rules will lead to DISQUALIFICATION. 13

14 Disqualification 1.Marshals will IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFY any cyclist/team they catch cheating at any time during the race and they MAY DISQUALIFY any team disregarding the safety instructions. 2.If a team has doubts about another team’s behavior (whether cheating, safety or any other concern) they are required to contact the nearest Marshal. R emember: This is a FUN EVENT! Please be kind to your fellow participants! 14

15 Finish Line 1.The Finish Line is inside the resort where a final 6 km loop is marked all the way. 2.Your support cars will NOT be allowed to follow you for the last 6 km inside the resort. A dedicated parking area will be available. 3.There are some bumps and narrower lanes in the last 6 km inside the resort, so it is NOT POSSIBLE to sprint towards the finish line. 4.Solo Cyclists or the ENTIRE Cycling Team must report to the D2R table BEFORE your time will be considered official. 5.The Finish Line Village will be inside. Free drinks and snacks will be available for all, with a rest area to relax in while waiting for the other cyclists to finish. 6.The Awards Ceremony will take place in immediately following the official end of the race. 15

16 Finish Line The Finish Loop inside the resort is about 6 km and will be marked all the way. There are some bumps and narrower lanes, so it is not possible to sprint towards the Finish line 16

17 Awards Ceremony The ceremony will take place at the resort, after the race. Awards are given to the 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd of each category : Elite : Solo, Team of 3, Team of 5 Road Bike : Solo, Team of 3, Team of 5 Open Bike : Solo, Team of 3, Team of 5 Special awards are given to The Youngest Cyclist The Oldest Cyclist 17

18 Dinner Party You will have time to refresh yourselves before the Gala Dinner at The Mövenpick Hotel & Resort, in Aqaba city, on Friday 14 th at 7 pm. Bring your Dinner Vouchers with you & extra cash for extra beverages if you wish. We encourage you to wear your D2R T-shirt or your Team or Sponsor’s T-shirt. If you have more guests than what you paid for, we will be selling tickets at the entrance. You may also buy extra D2R Race T-shirts at that time. REMEMBER : NO VOUCHER NO DINNER 18
