3 The Code Practice Hours (450) CPD 40 hrs - (inc 20 hrs participatory) Feedback (5, pts, peers etc) 5 Reflections & review by Nurse Professional indemnity (insurance) Health and character declaration Nurse Confirmer/ Approver Provisional revalidation requirements

4 Revalidation Requirements Every nurse/ midwife due to renew by 1 st April 2016 they: Are Fit to practise. Using the Appraisal process to discuss/prove: 450 hours practice hours - in last 3 years 40 hours CPD (20 hours being participatory learning) over 3 years 5 pieces - third party feedback in 3 years (from patients, service users, carers, or peers/colleagues (or students for educators) 5 pieces of reflection in 3 years– on either CPD or Feedback, stating how you used it to improve your practice (must be reviewed by a Nurse) – linked to relevant 4 themes of new NMC Code. Health and character declaration (can practice safely unsupervised following reasonable adjustments, no formal cautions, no convictions in last 3 years) Professional indemnity (insurance) – covered by SHFT ALL Signed off by a “Confirmer” – Line Manager/Nurse Evidence gets submitted online to NMC

6 Getting Ready for Revalidation: Nurses/Midwives due for their 3 yearly re- registration/renewal on 1 st April 2016 will have to do this process to keep on the Register We’ve revamped Appraisal Documentation (Section 2 for NMC registered staff) available on intranet NOW to print off – to show questions/evidence required (FAQ’s also on intranet) Start having your conversations during this years appraisal to get ready for your Revalidation date (3 yearly renewal date) A Nurse/Midwife MUST review your 5 reflections to ensure they are valid/suitable

7 Getting Ready for Revalidation: Your Line Manager will need to “Confirm” or approve all your evidence for Revalidation (this will need to be a Nurse for SHFT) We will be sending out communications and letters to each Nurse/Midwife via home addresses to let you know (soon) Southern Health are looking at designing an electronic solution to help you collect/store evidence (see drafts of Online tool design overleaf) We would like volunteers to trial this please
