9. Carlisle Schools  Indian boarding school in Pennsylvania that was government funded in hopes of “Americanizing” or anglicizing Native Americans  Changed their appearance, language, and tried to get ride of their Indian traditions  Indians were only allowed to go home at summer time

At that time, education, discipline and general life at the school revolved around stripping the children of their tribal cultures and forcing assimilation into Euro-American society.”
