2 Short Answer Questions SHORT ANSWER: Three points apiece. How did Athens dominate the Delian League? Focus on why created, what role did Athen’s navy play in the league and how did money effect power in the league. City-states formed the Delian League for the purpose of mutual protection. Since Athens had the strongest navy, it took control of the league. It then moved the money form the leagues’ treasury to Athens. Athens came to dominate the league, (5-1) How did Geography shape ancient Greece’s economy? Focus on Greece’s landforms, natural resources and location and access to sea routes. Greece’s land was very mountainous, and less than a third of it could be used for farming. Greece had few natural resources, but its location along major sea routes and easily accessible harbors made it a good site a good for sea trade. Because of this the Greeks developed widespread trade networks to get the items they needed (5-1) What are the causes (legend and history) of the Trojan war and how did it end? (Three Points) How did the Persian War unify Greece? Focus on how city-states got along, why war started, and how the city-states worked together. Some of the city-states, such as Athens and Sparta, were rivals. When the Persians began to take over Greek territories, however, the Athenians asked the Spartans for help. For the first time the Greek city- states came together to defeat the Persians
