1 Genene Jones By: Alyssa Smith

2 Early info Genene Jones was born in Texas on July 13, She went into nursing in 1977 Jones was adopted by a nightclub owner and his wife Jones was married to her high school sweetheart between 1968 and 1974, and they had one child during that time. They later reconciled and had another child together in Just prior to her indictment, Jones married a 19-year-old nursing assistant. He filed for divorce a short time later

3 Background Genene never finished high school.
Jones worked as a beautician before attending nursing school in the late 1970s. Jones worked as a licensed vocational nurse at the Bexar County Hospital (now University Hospital of San Antonio) in the pediatric intensive care unit a statistically inordinate number of children died under her care. Because the hospital feared being sued, it simply asked all of its LVNs, including Jones, to resign. No further investigation was pursued by the hospital.

4 Schooling/Career She then took a position at a pediatric physician's clinic in Kerrville, Texas, near San Antonio. It was here that she was charged with poisoning six children.

5 Crimes convicted of In February 14th,1985, Jones was convicted of two crimes: the murder of Chelsea McClellan and the attempted murder of Rolando Santos. She was sentenced to 99 years in prison, but is scheduled to receive parole in 2017 due to a law in place at the time of her sentencing to reduce prison overcrowding.

6 Evidential proof of crime
Only evidential proof of murders was the fact that the mother was present in the room when the killing happened. 46 infants from the first hospital where she worked were murdered but the hospital burned the records containing specific information.

7 Sentencing She was sentenced to 99 years in prison but just finished serving 35 years. She is set to be released sometime in 2017 or 2018 due to an old Texas law to reduce prison overcrowding.

8 Nickname Jones is known by some “The Angel of Death”

9 Books written about Genene
The Death Shift: Nurse Genene Jones and the Texas Baby Murders by Peter Elkind Killer Nurse: The True Story Of Genene Jones by Kori Mayer (Movie) Deadly Medicine in 1991 as Genene Jones (no trailer available, never released to the public)

10 Theory I believe that Genene Jones was anomie theory. I support this evidence because throughout Genene’s entire left she never felt like she was good enough. She never completed high school so that really deterred her from pursuing a career she really wanted. She went immediately into beauty school only as a way for money but left quickly because she was not happy. She then went into nursing and was very discouraged when her first infant she dealt with died even when it wasn’t even remotely her fault. After that she purposely injected children with poison and then once signs of death was happening she would try to save them on her own.
