3 INTRODUCTION THE CHALLENGE The Challenge: “Games, Camera, Action!” With the 2016 Olympics around the corner, BBC is looking for a youth TV production company to develop a special show to accompany the Olympics and you have been invited to pitch. RE-CAP!

4 INTRODUCTION THE CHALLENGE As a Team you have now… – Assigned roles – Decided what the objective of your TV show is –Developed an overview of your proposed show RE-CAP! The Brief: BBC need a concept for 6 episodes, one a week in the build up and during the 19 days of the Olympics and 11 days of Paralympic Games. Days, dates and times are down to your team!

Checklist… Have assigned roles and can explain what you are taking responsibility for Have a genre and aim for your show Thought about your target market and the best way to reach them How will your production have a positive impact on your local area?

8 INTRODUCTION THE CHALLENGE Session 3 progress You looked at Equality and Diversity of your TV show’s audience. Checklist… Have a well- developed TV show concept Have catered for a wide and varied audience and minimised risk Tell us how you have linked your show to Rio 2016 Have a Social Media Campaign & role Have statistics to back up your Social media campaign Radio 1: ten min interview script/plan on equality & diversity Radio Times: 100 words and an image

9 INTRODUCTION THE CHALLENGE Session 4 progress You looked at Sustainability surrounding the making of your TV show. Checklist… Considered positive and negatives of Olympic impact on Rio2016 How will you measure success, Inspire careers, and last! Know how filming your show will be sustainable Concept Pitch for 2017 and 2020 (Tokyo)

10 What is Expected of You? By 31 st May you must submit: 1.A five minute video of your team’s pitch to win the TV production contract Your tutor will also submit evidence of your work on your behalf- either a hard copy folder of all research and ideas printed and professionally presented OR on a USB stick INTRODUCTION THE CHALLENGE RE-CAP!

13 Team Discussion Are you on track? Is the work completed? What is YOUR responsibility? Does your tutor have your written work? How will you film your 5min pitch? IMPACT GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION!

14 14 Know what your are saying, and in what order everyone is speaking. 1 2 3 4 5 TOP TIPS FOR FILMING Practice at least twice before you press ‘record’! Remember these videos will be judged by people who know nothing about your idea before they watch it; Include all of your ideas, concepts and plans Don’t babble! Keep it professional and concise and to the point! How can you go that extra mile to make your team stand out?

15 15 Have notes to help you remember what you are saying. 6 7 8 9 10 TOP TIPS FOR FILMING Every team member should say at least one thing. Be aware of fidgeting, slouching and folding arms- you look less professional if you do this. Speak clearly, don’t rush (this is hard!!), and remember to breathe! Support your team in practice and the real thing by listening attentively while they are speaking.

16 16 Build Your Pitch Film Your Pitch GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION! Keep the prize in mind! Sell your idea! Don’t think you can’t be professional just because you don’t ‘feel’ confident. Practice, practice, practice!
