5 1 The UCB in French Creek The UCB/GCB in the RGS A line that separates areas designated for growth from areas where other values have a higher priority Originally the Urban Boundary in 1997 RGMP Changed to Urban Containment Boundary in the 1999 RGMP Amendment Changed to Growth Containment Boundary in the 2011 RGS

6 1 The GCB - Managing Growth Inside GCB – development is supposed to be urban and serviced by community water and sewer Outside GCB – development is supposed to be rural, generally large lot residential, farming, forestry or open space While there is general direction in the RGS for urban form, details are left up to each community to decide

7 1 The GCB - Managing Growth RGS Policies on the GCB Must designate a GCB consistent with the RGS Urban Areas are to be fully serviced with water and sewer Growth is to be accommodated within the GCB Outside of GCB: should be large lot rural Minimum parcel size cannot be reduced below what is in OCP at time of RGS adoption Water and sewer services not to be provided
