13 Easy Search Getting There: –Select the database or databases you wish to search in from the Databases page and click

14 EasySearch Allows you to run multi-file searches Can use boolean searching Can use limited search fields Can use limited look up lists Cannot build on a search – no sets created The more databases selected, the more general the search Records can be de-duplicated If you want to use the indexing specific to each file, search them individually in Advanced Search (Tip: Use EasySearch for quick & simple searches)

15 Search Example Looking for documents in Medline and Embase about the MMR Vaccine and Autism in children –Concept 1: MMR Vaccine –Concept 2: Autism –Concept 3: children

16 Viewing Documents Full – complete citation and abstract Short – brief citation Medium – abstract and citation Custom - create your own format *Check the Datasheet to see what content you will receive in each format

17 Viewing Documents Display Options –HTML –Tagged with field labels shown (Reference Manager compatible) –WebCharts: data displayed in a table

30 Advanced Searching Each search creates a numbered set in the search history box Sets can be combined using Boolean Logic and proximity connectors to refine the search Search history can be displayed or deleted

31 Controlled Indexing Most of the Core Content databases have look-up lists of Index terms that can be used in a search Medline, Embase, CINAHL contain an online Thesaurus and Thesaurus Mapping features Click on the look up lists to browse the indexing and add it to your search
