To give primacy to the human & spiritual rather than the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption & the application of higher social, business, & professional standards. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, & serviceable citizenship. To provide, through Kiwanis Clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, & to build better communities. To cooperate in creating & maintaining that sound public opinion & high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, & goodwill. MOTHER’S DAY May 14th

All our members should be congratulated for getting behind this project. We sold 385 dozen roses or 25% more than last year. Today the roses will be sorted & arranged for you to pick up your orders immediately after today’s meeting. We ask you to deliver the roses in the P.M. so your customers can have enjoyment now through Mother’s Day. If any of the roses seem unsatisfactory, let us know & we will replaced them immediately. Call any of our committee members – Max Booke, John Bates, Jay Ambler, Lal Ramdeen, or Butch Shadwell. The latest list I have shows that surprisingly few Kiwanians from Division5 have registered for the Montreal Convention so far. Most clubs budget a subsidy to help delegates and possibly other members with the costs of attending International and district conventions. Even without a subsidy, these conventions are great for an in-depth Kiwanis update and education-- especially for club officers. And just as importantly, it allows a fun vacation. I and some others of you attended the Montreal convention seven years ago. It is a great place to visit. This year my wife and I and some others plan to drive up to Quebec after the convention. I wouldn't miss this convention for the world even though you may be surprised to know that my total subsidy is considerably less than the amounts which most clubs subsidize their attendees. Each club should have two delegates attend plus two alternates, if possible. If you have not yet registered, please consider doing so and encourage other officers and members to join you. Kiwanis conventions are one of the foundations of the Kiwanis experience. Your clubs spend a lot of time and expend a lot of effort helping others in your community and around the world. Please do something for yourselves and make yourselves better Kiwanians --and have fun doing it! Bill Montgomery, Lt. Gov. Div. 5 Photographs for the new directory will be taken at the meetings on May 18 th, May 25 th, June 1 st, and June 8 th. Please wear appropriate attire for your photo. ---- Dan Kuchta MARK YOUR CALENDARS! MARK YOUR CALENDARS! June 28--July 2 International Convention, June 28--July 2 in Montreal, Canada. Heavenly Father: Help us to do our very best this day, not by worrying about whether we are right but by doing the right thing. May we understand that the roots of happiness grow deepest in the soil of service. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service.
