2 Consultation Open, fair and transparent process Reduction of establishment will be carried out across grades (diagonal slice) A reduction in the number of layers to the organisation Greater generalisation, with specialist roles only where essential Greater efficiencies both within and across departments

3 Consultation timetable Individual Consultation meetings – 1 st February – 2 st March 2011 Meetings with staff reps weekly until – 31 st March 2011 Consultation close – 2 st March 2011 Feedback considered by NCAS MT – 2 nd March 2011 – 4 th March 2011 MT prepare paper based on responses to consultation

4 Consultation timetable Staff reps meeting – outcome of consultation 7 th March 2011 Staff affected by the proposals will be notified prior to the all staff briefing Consultation timetable - 8 th March 2011

5 Proposed Implementation Timescales Affected staff to be placed 'at risk' - 9 th March 2011 Interviews for ring fenced positions - week beg 14 th March (invitation for these will be sent 9th March) Selection process includes: invitation to apply for role, CV, supporting statement and interview Panel consist of Head of service, HR, independent manager

6 Notice of redundancy Meetings where staff will be issued notice of redundancy - week beg 21st March Uniform notice date - 28th March (regardless of when notice issued) At meeting where staff issued redundancy notice - staff will receive their redundancy quotes and be informed about right of appeal against decision

7 Suitable alternative employment Any vacancies that arise within NCAS during the consultation and implementation stages will be ring fenced to all those ‘at risk’ Once staff are placed ‘at risk’ suitable alternative employment will be sought within wider NHS/ALB sector (restricted pools of jobs for staff at risk) Vacancies compared against six criteria

8 Redundancy If by the end of the notice period, no suitable alternative employment has been found, then employment will be terminated on the grounds of redundancy Staff have the right to appeal against the termination of their contract by way of redundancy

9 Outplacement support E and SS have arranged series of workshops Appointments Commission will be running series workshops and one to one sessions with affected staff around CV writing, interview preparation and psychometric testing Please contact Jean Croydon on 0113 394 2962 for a one to one
