4 Appealing to the other 98% a desire to have fun - an opportunity to get out of the house to get fresh air – those with no backyard –social connectivity –meet people and make friends - try something different - Improve self esteem - ‘Make a positive difference’ - Connect with Family - Free supervised day activity - Inexpensive holiday or recreation experience - Safe, managed experience - want to turn up and not have to organize anything - Do something meaningful that is not ‘confronting’ – no ongoing commitment or responsibility’ - Health & well being - Hard work - Do something about Climate Change – people want to act - Learn something new - Skills development - Work experience - Life Experience - Participate in training non-accredited and/or accredited - Practical experience to complement study - gain some confidence/experience before joining a regular community group or before going overseas - Corporate Social Responsibility - Team building - Special event - A break from family culture / mix with other cultures - Practice English - Meet ‘real’ Australians - See Australia (the ‘real’ Australia) - have an adventure - Go somewhere you wouldn’t normally be able to go - Work in national parks & State Forests and rural lands and see behind the scenes
