The War of 1812 as a Symbol… December 24, 1814 – Treaty of Ghent signed January 8, 1815 – Battle of New Orleans February 18, 1815 – Treaty of Ghent ratified by Congress The treaty restored everything to how it was before the war began. Andrew Jackson led 4000 men in a one-sided victory over Britain. How might the sequence of these dates impact opinions of Americans?
