Ringle, 16/03/21, Slide 7 In-trap purification Step 1: TOF gate limits isobars in Penning trap Step 2: Identify each contaminant and clean with a dipole excitation (6 dedicated AFG’s) No separate purification trap at LEBIT! ~700 species identified - Resolving power ~10 6 - Can selectively target any known contaminant ion - Need to identify each contaminant during beam time (not optimal!) + +

Ringle, 16/03/21, Slide 10 rp-process r-process Single Ion Penning Trap Mass Spectrometry (PTMS) of Rare Isotopes Synthesis of elements Doubly magic nuclei and their vicinity 78 Ni & 100 Sn and neighboring isotopes important for nuclear structure studies and nuclear model tests Mass measurements are challenging due to low production rates Production at NSCL: 1-3 per day FRIB will allow mass measurements further away Towards High-Sensitivity Mass Measurements far from Stability SIPT project at LEBIT: measure masses of exotic isotopes with very low production rates

Ringle, 16/03/21, Slide 11 superconducting LCR circuit analysis detection electrodes pre-amp Perform measurements on the most exotic rare isotopes produced by NSCL and later, FRIB Access to isotopes delivered at rates as low as 1 ion/day Size of Nuclear Structure Effects is typically > 100keV (  m/m=10 -6 for 100 Sn) High-precision mass measurements using a single ion with SIPT CS+MM8?

General purpose TOF-ICR analysis Eva 8 based on Qt 5.4 – tested on OSX & Windows 7/8 Multiple fit functionality and no-doubles function Important bugfix: start and end time in.ft2 and.log file were the same Future functionality – PI-ICR? Please approach me for feature requests and bug reports.
