Art Nouveau Art Nouveau was an art movement from 1880s to 1910s. Art Nouveau was a way of thinking about modern society and new production methods. It was an attempt to redefine the meaning and nature of the work of art. This approach was considered completely new and revolutionary, thus the New Art - Art Nouveau name.

Advertising posters were welcomed into art.

Because of typical flat, decorative patterns used in all art forms, Art Nouveau obtained a nickname 'the noodle style‘ Principal subjects are lavish birds and flowers, insects, and women.

Toulouse-Lautrec Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec was born into an aristocratic family in the south of France in 1864 Sickly as a child, with weak bones Broke one leg falling in a ditch and a year later fell off a stool and broke his other leg Spent a lot of time recuperating in bed, so he began to draw Life of Toulouse

Toulouse- Lautrec Unknown at the time, Henri suffered from a genetic condition that prevented his bones from healing properly. Both legs ceased to grow, while the rest of his body continued to grow normally.

His stunted physique earned him laughs and scorn, and kept him from experiencing many of the physical pleasures offered in Montmartre, a sorrow that he drowned in alcohol.

ADULT LIFE In Paris he began to frequent the cafes and salons Because of his size and body deformity, Lautrec felt comfortable in the dark cafes and salons The locals of these establishments became the subject matter for most of his work

His early works were a part of the Impressionism Art Movement. He befriended another artist, Vincent Van Gogh They frequented clubs and bars-particularly the Moulin Rouge. Lautrec painting Van Gogh Painting
