CRG hosts and manages all R&D activities of all CEMEX entities. It is responsible for the development and innovation of technologies and products in the context of the CEMEX Group in all areas of product development, process technology, processes, IT and sustainability in energy and emissions. Founded in 1906, CEMEX has a long experience in cement fabrication and is today one of the world’s largest traders of cement and clinker. CEMEX manufactures cement in more than 50 countries across four continents and has annual sales of more than US$15 billion. About the Production Technologies Department The production technologies department handles and / or supports all production technology related projects of the company worldwide. One of its responsibilities is to provide insight into new technologies and to evaluate if these new technologies are relevant for the company. On the first level this is done simply by identifying and mapping the relevant technologies. On a higher level this is done by performing R&D projects. To do this the department has specialists dealing with several areas of expertise. About the Position The student will work directly together with the materials and novel technologies team leader of the department. He handles / is involved in all new technologies projects and overviews all EU funded projects of the company. During the whole project time (planning – startup – running – closing) of R&D projects, communication is very important. In order to get projects through internal or external processes they must be properly presented. During the running and closing of the projects the results must be properly communicated / marketed to several different audiences to increase their impact. Proper communication is hence a very important key element for the success of R&D projects, and the department have several of such projects currently running. Moreover, all novel technology projects are embedded into a technology map. Currently, this map is mostly known but a proper way to present it (due to its complexity) is not. Both key areas (projects and technology map) will be the working field of the student. He / She will be involved in the day to day business but will have as well the long term task to design a novel technology map. Since the student work close together with the supervisor the student will be naturally well guided and supported at all times during the period of stay in CRG. However, there will be as well several opportunities to spend time with other areas within CRG and with external persons for learning purposes. Communication Management Assistant
